Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson has been battling cancer since just before Christmas, a statement on the band’s website revealed today.
Doctors found a tumor on the back of the vocalist’s tongue that required him to undergo a “seven week course of chemotherapy and radiology treatment.”

But, the prognosis is good. The statement says that Dickinson’s medical team “expect him to make a complete recovery with the all clear envisaged by late May.” While Dickinson is not at full fighting capacity at the moment, he is expected to be back in good health this spring.
In the meantime, the band requests “your patience, understanding and respect for Bruce and his family’s privacy.”
